Salt Lake City led the nation in new job postings from February through the end of October, according to the job-search website Indeed.
Utah’s capital city had a 17 percent increase, eclipsing Buffalo, N.Y., which was second, with a 12 percent increase.

The webite looked at 2012’s best- and worst-performing cities and industries for job postings, top search keywords and other labor supply indicators in putting together its "State of the Union" on the U.S. job market.
Houston came in No. 3 among top performers, followed by Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio.
Indeed also reported that the industries with the greatest positive percent change in job postings from February through October were:
• Hospitality, up 22 percent
• Real estate, up 19 percent
• Retail, up 10 percent
The website added that increases in industries such as hospitality and retail correlate with recent reports of improving consumer confidence nationwide.
