Several restaurateurs were honored earlier this month by the Utah Restaurant Association during its annual meeting and awards dinner in Salt Lake City.

Dave Parrish • A McDonald’s owner/operator, who received the Golden Spoon Award, given to an individual who has devoted his or her life to the industry, creating high standards that also impact local communities. Parrish, the mayor of Ephraim, told those in attendance that he worked his way up the ranks of McDonald’s jobs and today owns nine franchises in southern Utah.
Bill Mouskondis • Board chairman of Nicholas & Co, who was inducted into the Utah Restaurant Association Hall of Fame. Mouskondis follows in the footsteps of his father and has spent his life devoted to the success of those in the restaurant business.
The Roof Restaurant • The Salt Lake City eatery was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, given to an operation that has been in business for more than 50 years. The Roof has changed names since its debut in 1911, but its ownership has remained the same. Accepting the award were Temple Square Hospitality Corp. President Brent Shingleton, along with Spencer Herzog, vice president; and Neil Wilkinson, director of marketing; as well as Roof manager Barbara Roberts and executive chef Mauricio.
Workplace Safety Awards • Sherri Hayashi, Utah labor commissioner, presented the awards to Café Rio, Hires Big H, Gastronomy, Chuck A Rama and Temple Square Hospitality.
