University Credit Union's annual "Warm the Soles" program comes to an end this week, with shoe distribution parties to be held at Redwood Elementary School and Capitol West Boys and Girls Club.

Each holiday season, the credit union brings much needed warm footwear to the area's disadvantaged children.

This year, credit union members donated more than $22,500, which will give 750 children a new pair of shoes this month. Each pair of shoes were purchased for a specific child whose name was given to the credit union by those familiar with the child's needs.

Shoes will be distributed at the final two shoe parties, one on Wednesday at Redwood Elementary School. The other shoe party will be held Thursday at Capitol West Boys and Girls Club.

University Credit Union created the Warm the Soles program in 1994.
