1-800 Contacts, Draper, has been honored with the 2012 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility.

The award was presented by the Salt Lake Chamber Women's Business Center.

"At 1-800 Contacts we recognize that they key to our success is our employees and we foster a sense of value in them by allowing flexible work schedules, offering numerous onsite benefits such as wellness incentive programs and hosting team-building events that recognize commitment to the company and encourage career development," Brian Bethers, president of the company, said in a statement announcing the award.

The Alfred P. Sloan awards are part of the national When Work Works project. The awards are administered by the Family and Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management.

1-800 Contacts, a subsidiary of WellPoint Inc., is one of the largest retailers of contract lenses in the country.
