Barnes & Noble will launch a video service this fall that lets users buy and watch movies and TV shows on their mobile devices and televisions. The bookseller says users of Nook Video will be able to shop for movies and shows from major studios. The new initiative represents the company’s latest response to the growing competition from online retailers such as Amazon.com.

Spaniards rage

Spain’s government was hit by the country’s financial crisis on two fronts Tuesday. Protestors enraged with austerity cutbacks and tax hikes clashed with police near Parliament, while the nation’s borrowing costs increased in an auction of its debt, signaling investors’ uncertainty over the country’s strategy for emerging from crisis.
