The Gateway shopping center in Salt Lake City is launching its annual search for the Christmas tree that will serve as the centerpiece for its holiday celebration.
Utahns who believe they have the perfect tree can post a photo of their tree with its address and location on The Gateway's Facebook page. Photos can also be emailed to Bendinelli@rpai.com.
"No only do people share photos of their majestic trees, but we get to hear the stories about the significance the trees have had in their lives," Scott Bennett, general manager for The Gateway, said in a statement announcing the launch of the annual search.
He said the staff at The Gateway receive inquiries about the tree search earlier and earlier each year from Utahns wanting their tree to be the one selected. This year, the submissions started coming in June, he said.
The Gateway will cover all costs associated with cutting and transporting the tree to its site near the Olympic Legacy Fountain. The tree will be lit in a ceremony on Nov. 17 as part of The Gateway's traditional "Light up the Night" festivities.
