A new online service developed by the state allows Utah residents to renew their Concealed Firearm Permit online in less than 10 minutes.

Instead of mailing in a paper renewal form, the new service gives officials the ability to view and approve applications online, which better meets residents' needs while increasing agency efficiency, according to the Department of Public Safety.

"The most convenient way to renew your Concealed Firearm Permit is online," Commissioner Lance Davenport said in a statement announcing the service. "Instead of waiting several weeks, we have now streamlined the process so you can receive your permit sooner while applying online."

To renew a permit online, Utahns should visits https://secure.utah.gov/concealed-firearms, enter their permit number and the last four digits of their Social Security number to begin the renewal process.

Once logged in, visitors can fill out the online application, upload their photo and finish the application process. Once submitted, permits should be received in the mail within two to four weeks.
