gets top award

Rain, an American Fork-based digital advertising and marketing firm , was presented with the 2012 Small Agency of the Year award for the southwest region by Advertising Age magazine.

Cricket still expanding

Cricket Communications, a marketer of wireless communications services, has opened a store at 83 E. State Street in Saratoga Springs. The company has 44 stores from Provo to Logan. It plans to open another in South Jordan at the end of September.

Utah truckers win titles

YRC Freight, a subsidiary of YRC Worldwide Inc., said drivers Philip Garcia and Ron Vanbibber of Salt Lake City won division titles at the recent Utah Truck Driving Championships. Vanbibber took first in the tank truck class and won the title of Grand Champion. Garcia placed first in the straight truck class. They will compete at the 2012 National Truck Driving Championships August 7-11 in Minneapolis.

Chrysler's sales, income up

Chrysler rode big sales increases in the U.S. to a $436 million profit in the second quarter. A year earlier, it lost $370 million, mainly because it refinanced government bailout loans. Unlike other U.S.-based automakers, Chrysler is benefiting from its reliance on the domestic market.

U.S. sets tariffs on washers

The Commerce Department has granted Whirlpool's request to levy tariffs on washing machines imported from South Korea and Mexico. It said Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics imported machines at prices below fair market value, a practice known as dumping, illegal under U.S. law. The tariffs range from 9.6 percent to 72.4 percent.
