Natural gas refueling station opens in Clearfield

A compressed natural gas refueling station is opening today in Clearfield.

The station was built by CNG America with funding assistance from Utah Clean Cities Coalition’s $14.9 million American Recovery & Reinvestment Act grant and the State of Utah’s Clean Fuel Vehicle Grant and Loan Program.

CNG America is a private company that is developing natural gas refueling stations in Utah, said owner Kim Hugie. "This is our first station but we have two others under development, one in Tremonton and another in Lehi."

The CNG station is located at JP’s Chevron, 1350 E. 700 South.

Utah has nearly 40 natural gas refueling stations operating from St. George to Logan. Most of those stations are owned and operated by Questar Gas, whose long-running efforts has been responsible for developing one of the most extensive networks of natural gas stations in the country.
