EnergySolutions Inc., the Utah-based nuclear-services company, is considering the sale of its U.K. and European business, which includes a contract to operate 22 Magnox reactors.
The company was approached by third parties about the unit, Chief Executive Officer David Lockwood said in a statement today.

The company’s contract with the U.K.’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to manage and operate the reactors began in June 2007. The authority has raised no objections to a potential sale, the Salt Lake City-based company said.
The announcement was made before the start of regular trading on U.S. markets. EnergySolutions’ shares closed Tuesday at $1.73, up 10.5 cents, or 6.44 percent for the day.
