win top award
The Solaris Collection of solar-powered and geothermal homes at Daybreak in South Jordan earned a Residential Project of the Year award at the PCBC, one of the country's largest homebuilding trade shows. The project was built by Garbett Homes and designed by KTGY Group. The homes' features can save owners up to 70 percent on utility bills.
Malware didn't affect many
The day that was supposed to see thousands of people knocked off the Internet by malware arrived Monday, but only a comparative few people (41,000 in the U.S., 211,000 worldwide) were affected. They waited too long or simply didn't believe warnings that they would lose access just after midnight because of a virus that took over computers a year ago.
Borrowing
rises in May
Americans stepped up their borrowing in May, helped by the largest monthly gain in credit card debt in four years. But overall card use is still well below where it was just before the Great Recession began. Consumer borrowing rose $17.1 billion in May from April.
Alcoa's Q2
beats estimates
Alcoa Inc., the largest U.S. aluminum producer, reported second-quarter earnings and revenue that beat analysts' estimates after an increase in orders from the auto and aerospace industries. The company lost $2 million, compared with net income of $322 million a year earlier. Sales fell to $5.96 billion from $6.59 billion.
