The Utah AFL-CIO will present its 56th annual C.O.P.E. Convention on Friday in West Valley City.
C.O.P.E. stands for Committee on Political Education.

The event will be run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center at 1355 W. 3100 South.
The morning speaker will be Mckay Jessop, an eighth-grade student from Midvale Middle School who wrote a letter to the Utah State Office of Education requesting that labor history be added to the curriculum. He will be presenting his eight minute DVD on labor history, and the AFL-CIO will be honoring him with an award.
The luncheon keynote speaker will be Pat Bagley, political cartoonist for The Salt Lake Tribune.
The afternoon keynote speaker will be Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah.
