Read Hellewell, a shareholder with the Salt Lake City law firm of Kirton McConkie, was recently honored by the Utah State Bar with the Distinguished Real Property Practitioner of the Year Award.

Allegiance, a Salt Lake City-based provider of consumer information, announced that Mike Chasteen has joined the company as executive vice president of sales and client services. Chasteen brings more than 25 years of experience to Allegiance. He will direct all sales and channel development efforts and client services.

Salt Lake City-based National Academies of Emergency Dispatch has hired Chris Knight as director of international police systems and standards. He has several decades of police service experience in positions such as the executive director of the National Safety Commission and director (colonel) with the Florida Highway Patrol. Tanya Llanes has been hired as member services representative. Previously, she held the positions of prior-authorization specialist at CVS/Caremark and pharmacy technician at both the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton and Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. Tawny Hales also has been hired as a member services representative. She is certified as an emergency medical dispatcher. Previously, she held the positions of emergency medical dispatcher for Rescue Alert, office manager/executive assistant at MGFK Inc. and administrative assistant at Gus Paulos Chevrolet.

Joshua Gardner has been appointed the Salt Lake/Tooele chapter president of the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation. The foundation provides outreach, training, support, education, information and activities for individuals with Down Syndrome, their parents and families, and the community. Gardner lives in the Millcreek area of Salt Lake City with his wife and soon-to-be six children. His youngest son, Robbie, has Down syndrome.

Richter7, a Salt Lake City-based advertising and public relations agency, has hired Sam Stroman as senior experiential designer. Before joining Richter7, Stroman held digitally based design positions at several agencies. After graduating with a bachelor's in graphic design from Utah State University, Stroman taught user-interface courses at USU for one year as an adjunct professor.

Wells Fargo Insurance Services' Managing Director Stuart Young is the new president of the Utah Chapter of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter Society. He received his CPCU designation in 1981 and his CIC (certified insurance counselor) designation in 1992.

Bob Wheaton, president of Deer Valley Resort, received Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur Of The Year award in the hospitality and services category for Utah. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate excellence in innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Joe Atkin has been named CEO of Goal Zero, a portable solar technology company based in Salt Lake City. He will be filling the position previously held by CEO and founder Robert Workman, who will be stepping into the role of co-chairman of the board of directors and chief creative officer over product development.

Randon W. Wilson, a senior attorney at Jones Waldo in Salt Lake City, has been honored with the Dyer Memorial Award, which denotes him as the "Sugar Man of the Year – 2011" for his 15-year dedication to strengthening and transforming the sugar industry through the creation of sugar beet growing and refining cooperatives. Wilson was the 54th recipient of the award, and one of the only non-industry executives to be bestowed with the honor.

Utah Arts & Museums has announced there are 11 new graduates of its Change Leader Institute, a leadership development program for individuals and organizations. Those receiving certificates were Renee Milne of the Tooele City Arts Council, Laretta Beesley of the Clinton Arts Board, Melissa Hempel of the Woodbury Art Museum, Janna Lauer of Heart & Soul, Nicole Sterling of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, Theresa Ellis of Ogden Valley Arts, Signe Adams of Nick Adams Photography, Brent Boylan of Manti City Arts Council, Teresa Boylan of the Manti City Arts Council, Chris Peterson of the Great West Institute and Irma Ramos of Vientos del Sur.
