L-3 hired the employee, even though she lacked an engineering degree. The recruiter determined that her military experience qualified her for the job, officials say.
L-3 supplies electronic products and services to the aerospace and defense industries.
The Freedom Award is the department’s highest recognition given to employers for exceptional support of employees who are Guard and Reserve members. A review board selected 30 finalists from 3,236 nominations.
Since it was established in 1966, the award has been given to 160 employers.
