The Utah District of the U.S. Small Business Administration has selected Karen Woodbury, president of Woodbury Technologies in Clearfield, as its 2012 Small Business Person of the Year.

After spending 20 years working with the U.S. Air Force ICBM Program in Utah, Woodbury took an entrepreneurial leap in 2003 to launch her one-woman company.

Since then, Woodbury Technologies has expanded to employ more than 200 people. The company provides information technology, medical services, communications and other types of support to the Air Force, Army and Defense Information Systems Agency in 10 states.

Woodbury will be among the honorees at a May 14 awards luncheon at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, at South Temple and Main streets in downtown Salt Lake City.

"The Utah District looks forward to honoring small-business owners and champions in Utah who play a significant role in [the] economy," said Stan Nakano, SBA district director in Utah.
