The Internal Revenue Service has launched a new online search tool to help Utah taxpayers more easily find out key information about tax-exempt organizations.
Dubbed "Exempt Organizations Select Check," the tool allows users to easily determine if an organization is eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions or if it has had its federal tax exemption automatically revoked for failing to file required forms with the IRS.

The IRS said the new search tool, available at http://1.usa.gov/ySJzvX, consolidates three former sites into one.
It it noted that data about organizations eligible to receive deductible contributions is now being updated monthly, rather than quarterly. And taxpayers may now search for organization by employer identification number, name, city, state, ZIP code, county, exemption type and revocation date, rather than only by state.
