Dickey's Barbecue Pit will celebrate the grand opening of its new Salt Lake City location on Friday.

The store is located at 1846 So. 300 West.

For its grand opening, which will be celebrated from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the store will offer $1 pulled pork sandwiches. It also plans to have a drawing that will award three winners with free barbecue for a year.

Dickey's has six locations in Utah, although earlier this week the company reported it had only four locations. It neglected at that time to count its new Salt Lake City and Heber stores.

Local franchise owner Jason Huang said this week he plans to open new stores in Taylorsville and Draper later this summer. Those stores will be the seventh and eighth for the Texas-based barbecue chain.

Dickey's opened its first location in Dallas in 1941. It began franchising in 1994. It has more than 200 locations in 36 states.
