Savant Systems LLC, a Massachusetts-based company that provides systems to automate the lights, heating, air conditioning and other functions in homes and commercial buildings, has acquired Utah keypad-maker LiteTouch.

Savant said its acquisition provides it with a well-recognized lighting control platform and keypads that it intends to integrate into its automated systems.

LiteTouch will continue to operate in Salt Lake City as Savant’s lighting-control group.

Savant’s systems are Apple based and allow home and business users to control functions using iPads and iPhones. The company, however, indicated that many of its customers were also asking for "hard button" access to their systems, which sparked the interest in LiteTouch.

"Our sales channel has been asking for a lineup of lighting control and integrated keypad products that operate in concert with Apple devices," Savant CEO Robert Madonna said.

LiteTouch has been manufacturing and selling residential lighting control systems for more than three decades.
