Cosmetics and perfume retailer Sephora, apparel retailers Forever 21 and Banana Republic, and tea shop Teavana are all hiring for new stores in City Creek Center.

As retailers work on staffing stores in the state’s newest shopping mall in downtown Salt Lake City, the list of tenants in the 800,000-square-foot property is starting to take shape. Mall owner Taubman Centers Inc. is holding off on the next round of tenant announcements to generate more excitement closer to opening day on March 22, but a growing number of retailers are making their plans known on their Web pages.

In September, Taubman released a list of more than two dozen tenants that plan to locate in the mall, including Tiffany & Co. City Creek will have about 80 stores and restaurants, led by retailers Macy’s and Nordstrom.

Sephora, which opened its first Utah store in 2010 in Fashion Place Mall in Murray, also has locations inside J.C. Penney stores in Provo, Layton and Riverdale.

The retailer didn’t have an exact opening date or any details for its new City Creek store. Most of City Creek Center’s tenants will open the same day the mall debuts.

Even though Forever 21 is hiring for City Creek, it has yet to announce whether it will remain in The Gateway shopping center, less than one mile away. Forever 21 also is in South Towne Center in Sandy and University Mall in Orem. Banana Republic also has a location in The Gateway, as well as in Fashion Place in Murray.

City Creek, bounded by State Street and West Temple, and 100 South and South Temple, is part of the larger City Creek project owned and managed by the development arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and includes offices, condominiums and apartments.
