American Airlines has presented its quarterly "Customer Cup Trophy" to its 22 workers at Salt Lake City International Airport.

It was the first time company employees at Utah's largest airport have won the award that recognizes airport achievements and improvement based on feedback from customers.

Evaluators said American's Salt Lake City operations improved in a number of key areas, including management of delays.

Other American Airlines' stations honored with the award included Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, LaGuardia Airport in New York City, Louisville International Airport and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Customer Cup awards are categorized by market size from largest to smallest according to flight activity.

"America's Customer Cup builds friendly competition across our employee network, while at the same time encouraging our stations to focus on improving processes, projects and interactions to deliver a better customer experience," said Mark Mitchell, American's Managing Director for Customer Experience.
