More than two dozen companies will make presentations to prospective investors at a venture capital conference in Midway on Thursday.
The conference is being organized by Zions Bank, VentureCapital.org and the Wayne Brown Institute, a Salt Lake City-based group that helps entrepreneurs find venture capital funding. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Zermatt Resort.
Presenting companies fall into four business categories life sciences, clean technology, information technology and "other."
Company representatives have been coached by the not-for-profit Wayne Brown Institute on how to present their businesses to venture capitalists. Their presentations have been reviewed by a panel of investors ahead of the conference.
"If our batting average holds, 60 percent of the companies will obtain funding within 12 months after their presentation," institute President Brad Bertoch said in a statement.
