Problem » The recalled items are multipurpose helmets also sold for use as bicycle helmets. Only Triple Eight and Sector 9 size "S/M" EPS Liner helmets are affected. Product testing demonstrated that these helmets do not comply with CPSC safety standards for impact resistance. For more information, call the CPSC’s toll-free hotline, 800-638-2772.

Vehicle » Ford Escape 2001-2002

Problem » Ford is recalling the model year 2001-2002 Escapes manufactured from Oct. 22, 1999, through July 19, 2002. This recall is related to the propensity for the vehicle to leak brake fluid. Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder reservoir cap, and the ABS electrical system will be changed. Owners may contact the Ford Customer Relationship Center at 866-436-7332.

Product » Lush Life power strips, manufactured in China, covering three designs of six-outlet power strips with model number 8001-6 embossed on the back — Pop Power Strip in Scroll (black with white scroll), Dot (blue with orange, white and lime green dots and a lime green cord), and Zebra (black and white zebra stripes). About 7,200 units were sold at The Container Stores nationwide and online from October through December for about $15.

Problem » The power strips have undersized wiring, and the wiring and plastic strip fail to meet the requirements for fire resistance, posing a fire hazard. No injuries have been reported. Consumers should return them to any of The Container Store locations for a full refund, plus a $15 merchandise card. Call The Container Store toll-free at (888) 266-8246 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mountain time, Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, or visit the firm’s website at www.containerstore.com.
