Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened last week in Heber City at 595 S. Main St.

"We wanted to invest in the fast-casual setting, because it gives people the option, whether they are in a hurry or would like to sit down for an excellent affordable meal," said Sky Galli, who will run the restaurant with wife Cindy and general manager Tenley Finch.

Dickey's, which opened in Dallas in 1941, began franchising in 1994 and has grown to 202 locations nationwide, including restaurants in West Valley City, Orem, American Fork and St. George.

This is the first franchise opportunity for the Gallis, who live just over the mountain in Woodland. Sky Galli has 41 years of professional cooking experience and has been a certified executive chef for 33 years. His wife has planned events and been involved in catering for more than 20 years.

"My grandparents were born and raised in the Heber Valley," Cindy Galli said. "I spent a lot of time with them hunting, fishing, and enjoying the many outdoor activities the area offers."

Dickey's offers a selection of signature meats, sides and tangy barbecue sauce. All meats are slow-smoked on site at each restaurant. For more information, visit http://www.dickeys.com.
