Are you flying somewhere soon to feast or celebrate with loved ones and feeling a bit anxious about whether your checked bags will arrive with you?

Delta Air Lines, the dominant carrier at Salt Lake City International Airport, has a free app to ease those worries.

The company announced Tuesday that its latest baggage-tracking application for Androids and iPhones is available, and updates for Windows and BlackBerry phones should be released in the next few weeks.

In a written statement, Bob Kupbens, Delta's vice president of eCommerce, said the airline continues to invest in technology "to bring greater convenience to the travel experience."

"We've added features that help put our customer's minds at ease, simplify their journey and put them in control," Kupbens said.

In April, Delta was the first airline to introduce online baggage tracking on its website, http://www.delta.com. Favorable feedback led the carrier to include the feature to its Fly Delta mobile apps, as well.

With the updated electronic tool, Delta customers can scan their bags with their phones and track them in real-time. The app also allows fliers to pay for their bags at check-in and view aircraft seating charts and high-resolution airport maps for all Delta hubs, including details about amenities at each location.

Other features include flight check-in, flight/gate information alerts, access to eBoarding passes, parking reminders and the ability to make seat changes and view upgrade and standby lists.
