Xi3 Corp. of Salt Lake City has signed a major distribution deal for its innovative small computers with Avnet Inc., a major deliverer of electronic components and computer products.

Xi3 is the manufacturer of a modular computer no bigger than 4 inches long that has the computing power of a tower device but uses about one-fifth the electricity of a normal desktop computer. It also has changeable parts that makes it easy to modify for specific uses.

"This is a very big day for Xi3 as it provides further validation for the Xi3 Modular Computer and our other products," President and CEO Jason A. Sullivan said in a news release.

Avnet Inc., which will distribute Xi3's products in the Americas, serves electronic equipment manufacturers and servicers in more than 70 countries.
