Alliance Techsystems (ATK) has received a $16.2 million, two-year contract to supply ammunition to the Turkish Ministry of Defence.

ATK's armaments division is based in Clearfield.

The contract is a continuation of a working relationship that has existed since 1999. At that time, ATK created the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corp. as a conduit to supply manufacturing assistance and to transfer technology to the Turkish military for indigenous production of 25mm tactical and training ammunition and components.

Since then, ATK has received more than $40 million in orders from the corporation for training, equipment, technology transfers and 25mm components. Those include high-explosive incendiaries and armor-piercing projectiles.

"We are committed to driving international growth in our medium-caliber ammunition business through both direct sales and strategic partnerships," said Dan Olson, vice president and general manager of ATK Integrated Weapons Systems.
