Over the past five years, Utah state government has put a host of resources online for residents. Here are a few that may help you:

Find money you didn't know you had • Each year, millions of dollars from dormant bank and credit union accounts, stock certificates, checks, insurance checks, bonds and dividends are turned over to the state because the owners cannot be located. Find a reputable company • The Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing can help consumers verify whether a company and/or individual is licensed and if any disciplinary actions have been taken against them. Go to dopl.utah.gov for information. Utahns can file a complaint about a business or business person at this site, which also is the spot where you can apply for or renew a business license.
To dig a little deeper • Go to https://secure.utah.gov/bes and after typing in a name of a company you will find a host of information, such as when it was founded, the members of its management team and whether it is in "good standing" with the state.
