The Salt Lake Tribune's free iPhone app is now available in Apple's App Store — the first of many moves to make sure Utah's news is available on any platform you choose, wherever you go.

The app offers a lightning-fast way to get our stories and photos at the touch of a button. A few of the features in this version:

Get the latest headlines without going to the site • The app is automatically updated with fresh content as soon as a story hits the Web.

Organize your news by category • The app features more than a dozen categories of news, entertainment and sports. Pick your favorites for the home screen.

Submit news tips • If you just saw a car crash, fire or other breaking news, you can let us know in seconds by using the "submit tip" feature.

See what's hot on The Tribune's website • Our "popular" tab is a running tally of what readers at sltrib.com are clicking.

Share stories with others • If you like a story, you can pass it along to others via one-touch connections with e-mail, Facebook or Twitter accounts.

Be alerted when news breaks • The Tribune app can "push" instant news alerts to your phone's home screen. Think of them as text messages, but there's no cost to you to receive them.

More features are coming, including the ability to comment on stories from your phone and view Tribune video and our popular photo galleries. More importantly, we're exploring the other devices you're using out there, from Android-enabled cell phones to Windows Mobile and Palm's WebOS. —
