Montage Deer Valley will hold a job fair Friday and Saturday, looking to hire 450 full- and part-time employees to work at the exclusive hotel scheduled to open Dec. 9.

The fair will be staged both days from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Empire Canyon Lodge in Deer Valley.

Resort spokesman Dan Howard encouraged prospective jobseekers to go in advance to the Montage website — http://www.montagedeervalley.com/careers.php — to obtain more information about 135 different positions that will be filled and to complete online applications.

"A majority of these positions are still available," he said, referring to jobs that range from accounts payable clerk to wellness supervisor.

Many jobs will be filled in November. A random check of positions shows Montage is looking for people with experience in other luxury hotels.

One to two years of experience is required for a bartender position at the hotel's Apex restaurant, for instance. The same amount of experience is required to supervise banquets. Two to three years of prior work in resort spa guest relations is mandated for the wellness supervisor.

The website did not include pay ranges for the 135 positions or discuss benefits. For most jobs, it stated, pre-employment substance abuse tests will be conducted to assure a drug-free workplace.

Training is available to ensure that "guests can expect impeccable hospitality, exceptional epicurean experiences, world-class spas and an elegant yet welcoming ambiance."

Besides leadership seminars, training opportunities include a yearlong massage therapy program and weekly classes in the "art of being a sommelier … to educate our associates about wine and its place in society."

The Deer Valley resort is the third to be opened by Montage, which was founded in 2002 by Alan Fuerstman to "serve affluent travelers."

Laguna Beach and Beverly Hills, Calif., are the sites of the first two Montages. The company also plans to open an ultra-luxury hotel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, but no date is listed on its website.

Montage Deer Valley will have 154 deluxe rooms, 66 suites and residences ranging from one to four bedrooms, three dining venues, a 35,000-square-foot resort spa and 50,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

It also will offer ski and bike concierge services, four regulation bowling lanes and areas for billiards and darts.
