Multiple people were injured in an explosion at a natural gas storage tank Tuesday afternoon in western Wyoming.

Workers were cleaning a tank east of Kemmerer, which is near Evanston, when an explosion occurred about 2 p.m., said Stephen Malik, spokesman for Lincoln Co., Wyo.

Malik did not know the exact number of workers injured or the extent of their injuries. A spokeswoman for University Hospital confirmed that two of the victims were taken to the burn unit there.

The fire was subdued by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Malik said. The tank is owned by E.O.G. Resources, a Pinedale, Wyo.-based natural gas company.
