Three men who allegedly left two victims bleeding from stab wounds after a fight in Magna last week were charged Thursday in 3rd District Court.
Defendants Derek Andrews, 23, Jeremy Crowther, 33, and Cody Johnson, 26, were all charged with 2nd-degree felony aggravated assault and 3rd-degree felony use of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.
A 16-year-old female is also suspected in the attack but has not been identified because she is a minor.
The fight allegedly erupted the night of Aug. 22 outside victim Kevin Anderson's home, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Crowther was waiting in Anderson's driveway when a car carrying Anderson, his brother Kyle and the other victim, Joseph Eggert, pulled in. Anderson got out of the car and threatened to call the police if Crowther did not leave, according to the affidavit.
When Eggert got out of the car, the affidavit states, Crowther allegedly punched him in the eye. In the ensuing scuffle, Crowther and Johnson, who ran onto Anderson's driveway when the car pulled in, allegedly stabbed Eggert in the back four times.
Meanwhile, Andrews allegedly attacked Anderson, stabbing him once in the back, twice in the chest and once in the forehead, fracturing Anderson's skull, according to the affidavit.
A witness later told police that after the fight, Andrews, his hands bloodied, said, "I got that guy, I got him good."
Unified and West Valley police officers responded to an emergency call at 11:36 p.m., UPD Sgt. Justin Hoyal said in an interview on Saturday. They found Anderson and Eggert lying in the house bleeding.
The two were transferred in critical condition to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. Police said Wednesday that they were expected to recover from their wounds.
While emergency responders tended the victims' wounds, police officers searched for the suspects. Aided by a K9 unit, the officers found Crowther, Andrews and the 16-year-old girl within an hour hiding in a backyard about a block from the crime scene, Hoyal said.
Johnson was arrested Wednesday without incident, according to police.
Crowther and Johnson are scheduled to appear in court Thursday. Andrews's initial appearance is set for Tuesday. A judge has not yet been assigned.
