Hours after the Unified Police Department's Metro Gang Unit announced Thursday that it had named Charley Louis Sanford its "Public Enemy Number One," he was arrested in Ogden.

Sgt. Paul Barker said numerous tips from the public led to the capture of Sanford, who was taken to the Weber County Jail.

Sanford — described as a member of a violent prison gang with prior arrests for assault, robbery and drug violations — was listed as an escapee from a federal halfway house, according to a news release from the gang unit.
