DVD • Whose movie is "The Other Woman"? Certainly, director Nick Cassavetes ("The Notebook") and writer Melissa K. Stack have no clue what to do with the characters in this scatterbrained comedy.

The ostensible star is Cameron Diaz, who plays Carly, a high-powered lawyer having a whirlwind romance with handsome financier Mark ("Game of Thrones' " Nicolaj Coster-Waldau). Then Carly learns Mark is married to the lovely but stressed-out Kate (Leslie Mann), and when they team up they discover he is also having an affair with the even younger Amber (played by supermodel Kate Upton).

This movie can't decide whether we should empathize with Carly or Kate, though Mann's funny, touching performance tips the scales. However, the movie slips into idiotic slapstick that's too cruel to be funny. —
