DVD •Weird that two recent computer-animated sequels, "Rio 2" and "How to Train Your Dragon 2," turned on similar plots: Heroes discover hidden refuge for endangered species, maintained by the long-lost parent of one of the heroes, and together they must fend off nasty interlopers.

Oddly, it's the movie that hit theaters first, "Rio 2," that feels like the knockoff. Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway return to give voices to Blu and Jewel, rare blue macaws who take the kids into the wild — where they find a whole flock of their kind, led by Jewel's daddy (voiced by Andy Garcia), who goes "Meet the Parents" on Blu.

The colorful tale is overpopulated with one-note characters, and the movie's best feature is its Brazil-influenced soundtrack. —
