Two Salt Lake City police officers were seriously injured Thursday when they were involved in a traffic accident while riding their motorcycles.

Three motorcycle officers were traveling west on 500 South at about 6:10 p.m. when a gray Honda Fit changed lanes between 200 and 300 East and struck two of the bikes, said Detective Cody Lougy.

The two motorcycles crashed as a result of the collision, Lougy said. The two officers were transported to a hospital in serious condition but are expected to recover.

Lougy said the woman, who said she had not seen the motorcyclists, was being interviewed and the crash was still being investigated. The woman was not injured.
