Police: Utah McDonald’s manager robbed herself, blamed another

Heber City police say they have figured out who allegedly robbed a McDonald’s manager on the way to make a cash deposit.

Police say it turns out the 34-year-old manager robbed herself with the help of three others, but tried to blame it on a stranger.

Police said the 34-year-old manager called police Sunday about 3:05 p.m. to report that she had been robbed as she left the McDonald’s at 600 S. Main Street with a cash deposit envelope.

The employee allegedly told police that a man threatened her, stole the daily bank deposit and fled on foot.

But police said as they investigated, they determined the woman worked with three other individuals to stage the robbery.

Police said the manager allegedly tried to steal close to $4,000. All of the money was recovered except for a few hundred dollars, police said.

Police arrested four people, including the manager, on suspicion of theft, a second-degree felony, and making a false report, a class B misdemeanor.

Police credit tips from residents through the city’s Emergency Notification System with helping to crack the case more quickly.
