A man was hospitalized Sunday night in "extremely critical condition" following a Utah County rollover.

He was one of three passengers in an older model Jeep Wrangler that the driver was taking uphill on Lake Mountain Communications Road, a steep service access road on Lake Mountain. About 5:39 p.m., the driver failed to make the turn on a switchback, said Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon.

The Jeep, which has an exposed top, rolled about 50 feet down a steep and rocky embankment. The critically injured man was flown to University Hospital with head injuries, Cannon said. The driver and the other passengers were less seriously hurt.

Investigators suspect alcohol factored into the crash. Besides evidence at the scene, emergency responders smelled alcohol on the Jeep's occupants, Cannon said.

After the driver was released from the hospital, she was arrested under suspicion of DUI, Cannon said. For now that is a misdemeanor, but if the man dies, the charges could be enhanced, Cannon said.
