A search and rescue team is trying to help a pair of hikers down Mount Olympus after they got lost Sunday evening.

The 21-year-old man and woman went for a hike and went off Shoreline Trail — but could not find their way back to it before it got dark, so they called for help about 9 p.m., said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.

Neither of the hikers are hurt or in a dangerous spot, such as a cliff, he added.

They are about a mile up the mountain and in contact with the rescuers over the phone. The rescuers plan to hike up to the couple and guide them back down soon, Hoyal said.
