Police revealed Tuesday that they have a person of interest in the death of a Vernal man: his former roommate.
The roommate had been staying with Christopher Alan Miller, 52, at his apartment at Pheasant Glen Condos (1350 W. 150 North) for six days, said Vernal Police Chief Keith Campbell. Police have had a chance to speak with the roommate, who is no longer staying at the apartment, Campbell added.
Campbell added that investigators were continuing to make progress in the case Tuesday, although he declined to elaborate.
A neighbor called 911 about 6 a.m. Saturday to report that someone may have burglarized Miller's condominium and that there might be a dead body inside. When police went inside, they found Miller's body in the living room.
Since no one had forced entry into the residence, police suspect that Miller knew his assailant. Miller was 6-foot-3-inches and 210 pounds. His injuries were consistent with a fight though what killed him is still under investigation.
Investigators believe Miller had died within 12 hours of when they found him, Campbell said. Besides probing the circumstances surrounding Miller's death, investigators are awaiting autopsy results from the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office.
