Police arrested a solicitor after they say he was overly aggressive in his pitch.
A group of solicitors, with permission from Herriman City, have been going around selling cleaning products — but for two days, Unified police have been receiving several calls about one aggressive salesman, said Lt. Justin Hoyal.
Police went out looking for him Tuesday but couldn't find him. Then a woman called Wednesday saying he'd tried to force his way into her home and was "very argumentative" with her, Hoyal said.
Based on city ordinance, solicitors have to leave when a resident asks them too. When police found the 38-year-old man, they arrested him under suspicion of violating the ordinance, as well as under suspicion of trespassing and disorderly conduct, Hoyal said.
The solicitation group has the right to sell its product, "but this gentlemen took it too far," Hoyal added.
He encouraged solicitors to educate themselves on individual city ordinances, and homeowners to shut the door and call police if they feel threatened.
