A teenager and his mother have been charged in connection to a drive-by shooting.

The 17-year-old son was charged as an adult Tuesday in 3rd District Court with 10 felonies, including multiple counts of felony discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault. His mother was charged Friday with 10 felonies and three misdemeanors, according to court documents.

On Sept. 22, the woman allegedly drove her son to a 7-Eleven near 3900 S. 500 East after a fight at school, according to the charges. The three people who were reportedly involved in the fight were in a vehicle outside the Millcreek store.

When the mother and son arrived, the son allegedly fired six rounds at them, the charges add. No one was hurt.

"The next day [the woman] called police at their request and arranged for and [her son] to meet with them," the charges read. Investigators say that she acknowledged driving her son by the store, but denied that he had a gun or fired anything. "[She] claimed that there was another vehicle that she saw fire upon three gang members. When confronted about what witnesses had stated, [she] said, 'What am I supposed to do?'"
