The Boston Celtics have signed swingman Evan Turner.

The second pick in the 2010 draft averaged 17.4 points for Philadelphia in 54 games last season before being traded to Indiana on Feb. 20. He started two of his 27 games with the Pacers, averaging 7.1 points.

Turner has averaged 11.1 points per game since winning the Naismith Trophy and John R. Wooden Award as national college player of the year in 2009-10 with Ohio State. With Rajon Rondo out six to eight weeks after breaking a bone in his right hand, Turner could get a shot at point guard, a position he played in his last college season.

The Celtics also announced Monday they had waived guard John Lucas III and forward Malcolm Thomas.

LeBron unsure about '16 Olympics

LeBron James doesn't know whether he'll take another shot at Olympic gold. James said Monday he has not yet decided whether he'll play for Team USA at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, where could win a third straight gold medal.

Following Cleveland's third training camp practice, James was asked about his plans for the Rio Games following reports that Oklahoma City superstar Kevin Durant has committed to playing for the American team again.

"I'm nowhere near there," James said. "I haven't even thought about it too much. Obviously I know what's going on and what's happening. I haven't decided."

The 29-year-old James has played on three U.S. Olympic teams. He won a bronze medal in 2004 at the Athens Games before winning golds in 2008 at Beijing and 2012 at London.

James did not play for Team USA in the World Cup this summer. He wanted some time off and had another big decision to make, re-signing with the Cavaliers.

Clippers add three assistant coaches

Doc Rivers is adding three new assistant coaches to his Los Angeles Clippers staff for the upcoming season. Former NBA veteran Sam Cassell, Lawrence Frank and Mike Woodson will join Rivers on the bench. They round out a staff that includes current assistants Armond Hill and Brendan O'Connor, as well as assistant player skills coaches JP Clark and Dave Severns. The three newcomers replace Alvin Gentry, Kevin Eastman and Tyronn Lue.

Cassell was an assistant with the Washington Wizards the last five years. He played for the Clippers during his 15-year NBA career, and won three NBA championships, two with Houston and one with Boston.

Frank reunites with Rivers after spending last season with the Brooklyn Nets. Frank was part of Rivers' staff in Boston during the 2010-11 season

Woodson played two seasons for the Clippers. He coached the New York Knicks until the end of last season, and spent six years coaching Atlanta.
