The Utah Highway Patrol has identified the man who died Saturday afternoon in a Parley's Canyon crash.
Mario Lopez-Jimenez, 43, of Kearns was traveling east on Interstate 80 on a sports bike at a high rate of speed when he tried to pass another vehicle near the East Canyon exit, according to UHP.
But there was not enough room, and Lopez-Jimenez lost control of the sports bike and crashed in a large dirt area, according to UHP. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered "major head trauma," UHP reported.
