If you're a fan of "Sleepy Hollow" (Monday, 8 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13), you already know the truth about the Fox show — it's absolutely insane.

It is, after all, a show about Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison), who awakens after 250 years to do battle with the Headless Horseman and various other evil beings who are determined to bring about Armageddon. It's great fun, but it's nuts. And viewers aren't the only ones who think so. Mison said he gets that same feeling with "every script."

"I mean, that's why I loved it when I first read the pilot," he said. "It's bat sh— crazy. And it's not like anything I had read before.

"And I didn't believe it could be done, and then we did it."

Monday's season premiere shows us, in flashbacks, Crane's relationship with that "gasbag," Benjamin Franklin. And Headless is back.

It's a huge amount of fun.

Here, in chronological order, are a dozen more season premieres well worth checking out this week:

"The Big Bang Theory" (Monday, 8 and 8:30 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2) • TV's biggest show returns with back-to-back episodes — and Sheldon returns to Pasadena.
