The Eccles Organ Festival has been a little like Thanksgiving dinner for the Salt Lake area's many organ enthusiasts since it began in 1994. This year, "we're going to spread the wealth so we don't have a glut over two months and relatively little the rest of the year," said committee member Richard Elliott. Rather than a recital every other week, the festival will roll out the riches on the second Sunday of each month, taking December off.

"It's a Who's Who, really, of great organists in the world," Elliott said of the Eccles lineup over the years. As always, this year's edition features two organists from other countries, two top organists from the United States and one leading local performer:

Robert August and Andrew Lloyd • August and Lloyd, organists at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth and First United Methodist in Denton, Texas, respectively, will perform in memory of their former teacher, prominent Utah organist Douglas Bush, Sunday night.

Ken Cowan • Cowan, head of the organ program at Rice University, plays Oct. 12.

Leroy Ghislain • Ghislain, organist at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de la Treille in Lille, France, will perform with trumpeter Romain Leleu on Nov. 9.

RenĂ©e Anne Louprette • Head of the organ department at Rutgers University, Louprette plays Jan. 11.

Vincent Dubois • Dubois, director general of the Strasbourg conservatory in France, closes the series Feb. 8.

Concerts begin at 8 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City.
