Golf • Keegan Bradley hasn't stopped thinking about playing in another Ryder Cup. U.S. captain Tom Watson gave him that chance Tuesday night.

Watson filled out his U.S. team that will try to win back the cup by selecting Bradley, Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson. Among those he left off the team was Chris Kirk, who finished ahead of Simpson in the Ryder Cup standings and won the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday.

Bradley has not won a tournament in two years. But he went 3-0 in a partnership with Phil Mickelson two years ago at Medinah before losing to Rory McIlroy in singles.

Mahan was left off the 2012 team that lost to Europe.

The matches are Sept. 26-28 at Gleneagles in Scotland. Europe has won seven of the last nine.

World Cup slalom champ Schild retires

Skiing • Austrian skier Marlies Schild retired, ending a career in which she overcame several serious injuries before setting the women's record for most World Cup slalom wins.

"The time has come for a new chapter in my life," the 33-year-old Schild said. "I have been able to realize the dreams I had as a little girl. I am thankful for that. But your goals change and so do your priorities in life. My biggest wish is to have a family."

Schild won her 35th career slalom event in Lienz in December, beating a 19-year-old mark set by Swiss great Vreni Schneider. Schild earned four crystal globes as the season's best slalom skier and became the discipline's world champion in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2011. She also won four Olympic medals but failed to take gold.

Britain's Kruk suspended 8 years

Weightlighting • British weightlifter Vasyl Kruk has been banned for eight years following a second doping violation. The U.K. Anti-Doping agency says Kruk tested positive for three banned steroids in an out-of-competition doping control on Feb. 24, 2014. He previously served a two-year doping ban from 2012 to 2014. UKAD says Kruk, who is not a top-level lifter, is banned from all competition until May 2022.
