Philadelphia • A youth baseball team whose star pitcher appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated is getting the champion's treatment as the city hosts a parade honoring the team's appearance in the Little League World Series.

The team is to travel about four miles by float from the downtown business district to a park in south Philadelphia during Wednesday's parade. Along the parade route, there will be musical performances.

The two-hour parade will be followed by a rally at the park.

The Philadelphia Phillies also plan to host a pre-game tribute to the team at Citizens Bank Park.

The Taney Dragons, which represented the mid-Atlantic region in the series, was led by 13-year-old Mo'ne Davis, who captivated fans and became the first female pitcher to win a game in the series' 68-year history.

Davis graced the cover of Sports Illustrated and captured the attention of the sports world during the Taney Dragons' run in the Little League World Series. Her last start drew record-setting television ratings for the series.

The Philadelphia team won its first two games in the series but was eliminated when it lost to eventual U.S. champion Jackie Robinson West from Chicago and the fourth-place team, Las Vegas' Mountain Ridge.

After the team was eliminated last week by Chicago, it received a hero's welcome by the city on Sunday as they were greeted by cheering crowds in Love Park.
