Gangrene Film Festival

'Frozen'

The Utah State Capitol Preservation Board finishes its summer Movies Under the Stars series with an outdoor screening of Disney's "Frozen." The local music act Chad and Kristo will play before the movie, starting at 7:30 p.m. The movie starts at dusk, around 9 p.m.

'Hedwig and the Angry Inch'

The Tower Theatre's summer late-night series concludes with the 2001 rock musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," starring John Cameron Mitchell (who directed and adapted his off-Broadway play) as a transsexual East German rock diva. Live pre-show starts at 11:30 p.m.; movie starts at midnight.

'Wrenched'

The documentary "Wrenched," which picks up where Edward Abbey's iconic novel "The Monkey Wrench Gang" left off, chronicling Abbey's legacy of environmental civil disobedience. A post-screening discussion will follow, with director M.L. Lincoln; Eric Temple, director of the 2007 documentary "Edward Abbey: A Voice in the Wilderness"; and Kim Crumbo, director of conservation for Grand Canyon Wildlands Council.

'The Kill Team'

The documentary "The Kill Team," which profiles Spec. Adam Winfield, a 21-year-old infantryman in Afghanistan who attempted to alert the military to heinous war crimes his platoon was committing. Filmmaker Dan Krauss will take part in a live post-film Q&A session, moderated by KUER's Doug Fabrizio. Presented by the Utah Film Center.

'Charley's Aunt'

The Organ Loft kicks off its fall season with the 1925 silent comedy "Charley's Aunt," starring Syd Chaplin as the hapless college student forced to masquerade as his classmate's aunt. Also on the bill: "Pay Day," a short starring brothers Syd and Charlie Chaplin. Blaine Gale accompanies on the mighty Wurlitzer organ.

'Belle'

The period drama "Belle," which tells the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the mixed-race daughter of an aristocrat in 18th century England, who is brought up among nobles but constantly aware of her precarious social standing. The first entry in this fall's Park City Film Series.

Underfunded Film Festival
