Police are hunting for an armed man and woman who robbed a groggy west Salt Lake City man when he answered knocking at his door.

SLCPD says the incident occurred about 5 p.m. Tuesday at a home near 1400 West and Glenrose Drive.

The victim said he was asleep in a back bedroom when the knocking came. Thinking it was family at the door, he opened it. The man and woman, armed with a handgun, forced their way in and struck him on the head with the firearm.

The duo then fled with the man's wallet and cellphone.

The suspects were described as a white male in his late teens with short blond hair, a black shirt, black gloves and wearing jeans; the female was a Latina, about 30, with black jeans, a military style shirt, and black-and-blonde hair.
