A Colorado man died in a traffic crash Tuesday afternoon near Salem.

Darryl Roberts, 50, was stopped in a northbound Buick passenger car about 1 p.m. at a stop sign at 1200 West 8000 South, when he pulled into the intersection to turn left. An eastbound Ford Focus was approaching the intersection, which is not controlled for east-west traffic, and collided with the side of the Buick, troopers wrote.

Roberts, who was from Colorado and was visiting family, died at the scene. The occupants of the Ford Focus were not seriously injured.

Rain may have contributed to the crash, troopers wrote. Investigators found no evidence of alcohol or drug use.
